Conviction

What's up people? It has been about a week since I've posted anything. I have been working a lot and trying to take care of business. I've been reading when I get the chance, and I have to say, I feel convicted. I have always felt that art's greatest power is to bring enrichment to lives through meaningful messages. The things I have been reading have really touched on the hurt and suffering in the world. They reinforced the thought that everyone must do their part to make things better.

I got home earlier than usual today, so I did some reading and felt compelled to make some things. I am posting one of the things I made today, so check it out. Hope you enjoy.

Weekend Treats

I have decided to go ahead and post some of the stuff I worked on over the weekend. I think I am liking posting blogs. Who knows, this may be a reason to pump something out every day. Some days will obviously be harder than others to stay committed to that idea, but I REALLY, REALLY want to get a job making art. One of my good friends just got a cool job (well, he may be getting the job; I think he got it). He makes all kinds of animations and video graphics. I'm ready for that, so I'm practicing my skills, posting stuff, applying for jobs and internships, and trying to keep my head up. It's more about toughing out the wait than anything. Something will come if I have the skills, put myself out there, and work hard.

Anyways, I've rambled on enough. Here is a little taste of this weekend. Enjoy!

The Offering

Quckie!

So the week has started, but I think about making stuff all the time. Last week was double shifts all week, so I barely had time to do anything. I THINK I will have more time to make some things this week. YAY!

Anyways, I made quite a few things this weekend, so I may post those at some point. Buuutt, as for today, a friend asked me to design some quick and simple characters for some short animations so I'll post my mock-up sketches for now. Enjoy!

Lending a Helping Hand

Hello All,

So, I am pretty passionate about helping those in need. I have found though, that there are...complications...that makes it more difficult than you might want it to be to help those who need it. For instance, I used to try to volunteer for community service. I would look online for places I could help out, but I would find that it is actually a relatively annoying process. There were places, but they weren't holding events all the time. Or maybe they just needed money and donations and not actual bodies/time commitment. I'm not saying these things are bad either, but sometimes I want a person interaction with someone in need. The other thing I found was that you may want to help someone today; like NOW. So you go to a community service center to help out, and they tell you to fill out some paper work and come back or there is nothing for you to do. It's actually rather off-putting.

Well, I decided to do my own thing. I won't get into how I personally give back to the community now, but I do believe one person can make a difference. I am saying all of this to say that despite that fact that at times there can be hurtles to helping people, there are ways. One way I have discovered and am very fond of is an organization called KIVA.

What KIVA does is accept donations from people that are then distributed to people in less fortunate parts of the world. The catch is this; your donations aren't really donations. They are loans. I know that sounds worse, but stick with me. These people already work hard and are making a living, but don't have as much opportunity as we have in the United States despite their hard work. So our donations are offered up as no interest loans. You give them money. They give it back. You are where you started. The most brilliant part though, is that when you give and it comes back to you, you can just loan it out again. Over time these loans help countless people but cost you nothing more than an initial donation because they recycle themselves.

As a shout-out to an organization that is doing amazing things for people in need, I created a little PR for them because we all gain when we help others. Check them out at their website:

Hello All!

Hello All!

So I've decided I will do this blog thing. It's a first for me, so bear with me. Not sure what this will really consist of, but I know I will add images that I make that I may or may not post on other sections of my site. So check up on the blog every once in a while. Oh, and leave comments if you feel compelled to.

So for the first blog post I will put up an image I made...well, finished today. I have been working a lot so I haven't been able make things as often as I'd like to.

Anyways, here it is. Enjoy!
